Forge Health Group

Forge Health Group cares for around 15,300 patients, with a rich and global cultural heritage. Up to 50% of daily communication with our patients requires the support of an interpreter, from the reception desk to the consultation room. We use both face to face and telephone interpreters as well as employing bilingual staff.

Our reception or clinical staff may offer you an appointment with one of several types of healthcare workers at the practice, or within our network, such as physiotherapists, mental health workers and link workers. as we aim to offer you the most appropriate help for your specific need.

We are a teaching practice, so we have a variety of trainees at the practice, whom you may meet as a patient at Forge Health Group. You may also be asked to support them in their learning by talking about your health experiences and consenting to recordings of appointments for their assessments.

The practice is very busy and it can sometimes be difficult to get through to us. We are working hard to improve this, by developing our website and online services. We hope our website will guide you directly to the right service for your needs, which may mean bypassing the practice altogether at times.

We are based within one of the most deprived wards in Sheffield, where people can struggle with social and health inequalities such as low incomes, poor health, poor education, poor housing and shorter life expectancy. We aspire to support our local community with a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, and work with local community organisations to achieve this.

We form part of the Foundry Primary Care Network, a group of 8 local GP practices, who are working together to develop new services for the local population of 58,000 people. These practices include Burngreave Surgery, Forge Health Group (consisting of Pitsmoor Surgery & Flowers Medical Centre), Firth Park Surgery, Page Hall Medical Centre, Sheffield Medical Centre, Southey Green Medical Centre, Upwell Street Surgery, Wincobank Medical Centre.
