Appointments
To request an appointment please fill out our online access form or if the problem is urgent please give us a ring.
Please note that you will be asked a few questions. Please do your best to answer the questions so that we can handle your request appropriately and make sure your request gets to the right person to help you.
We may also be able to offer you an appointment the same day, or a date in the future, at a different location in the city at extended access hubs. These hubs also operate on evenings and Saturdays.
You do not need to make appointments for continuation sick notes, to chase a previous referral to hospital or to request a doctor's letter. In these instances, we can take the information over the telephone or via the online website link. The doctor or surgery team will then process the request from the information provided.
You can also find help on specific conditions through the NHS Symptom Checker by following this link https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/
Urgent Requests
Urgent Requests
Please telephone us on 0114 272 5154 to make an appointment request. Our telephone lines are open while the Surgery is open. Our telephone lines are very busy and we answer calls as quickly as possible. For patient safety we currently allow a maximum of 15 calls to join our queue at any one time.
We have enabled the option for a "call back" which will allow you to request us to call you back, rather than staying in the queue, please make sure we have your up to date mobile number. When you reach the front of the queue we will call you back, but due to the volume of calls can only do this once so keep your phone nearby.
We offer a combination of face to face, telephone or econsults. Please note that in order to direct you to the clinician who will best meet your needs you will be asked a number of questions by the reception staff. Please do your best to answer their questions. They are bound by the same confidentiality rules as the clinical team and they have been asked by the doctors to gain this information from you.
Please cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. You can do this by replying to the reminder text you recieve.
- We run an appointment only system. The GPs have between 10-15 minutes per appointment; if you have several problems and think you need more time, please let the receptionist know.
- Each appointment is for 1 person only and children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
- If you need to be seen urgently please ring as early as possible in the day. If we are at capacity, the receptionist will take information to pass on to the GP on call who will offer advice or direct your query to the most appropriate service.
- Some people's problems may take longer than expected and you may have to wait - please be patient.
Home Visits
The doctors can carry out home visits for patients who are housebound and who are more vulnerable.
We ask you to call before 11.30 am to arrange this so that we can assess the need for a visit the same day. However, this is at the doctor’s discretion and they will assess your situation over the telephone and advise you appropriately.
