A patient who has asthma can be seen in Asthma Clinic with the nurse by appointment. Our aim is to see all asthma patients yearly.

If you are on repeat medications, you should expect to be called for a review around your birthday month every year.  

You may be offered a health check including blood tests, a specialist nurse review of your long-term conditions, a medication review by a pharmacist or doctor, and a complex care review if you have specific needs. 

During this period of review, you may have delays in accessing your medication, until it has been reviewed and re-authorised for another year. Attending your appointments when requested will speed up this process and avoid any delays. 

Patients are seen by the midwife for the first visit at around 8 weeks and then at Surestart and Jessop Wing for all antenatal care. 

For baby's first 8 week check and mum's post natal and immunisations.  Held on Wednesdays mornings by appointment. Please do not bring ill babies to this clinic.

We have a few blood test appointments available every week, as well as more in-depth annual review health checks which also involved blood pressure, weight, urine and foot checks, as required.

You can also have your blood test at the hospital or at the drive-through centre on Longley Lane. For this option, we need to request your tests in your medical records first, and you will need your NHS number with you.

The NHS provides Cancer Screening services to pick up cancer early to give you the best possible outcome.  

 Cervical Screening (Smear test)

We perform smear tests at the medical centre, and take great care to make these as comfortable and acceptable as possible for you.

 Breast Screening  (Mammogram)

​You will receive an invitation through the NHS screening programme to attend the Royal Hallamshire Hospital for your mammogram, usually every 3 years from the age of 50.

 Bowel Screening                       

 You will receive a bowel cancer screening kit through the post every 2 years from the age of 60. If this is not returned, we will be notified, and we will attempt to contact you to encourage you to do the test.

If you care for a family member or friend with a disability, illness or frailty, or a child with special needs please inform the doctor or nurse when you see them. We like to highlight this in your notes so we can offer you support and flexibility when you are accessing our services. We also suggest you register with the Sheffield Carers’ Centre. 

We follow the national childhood vaccination programme, which starts at 8 weeks of age, in order to protect your child from serious childhood illnesses.

We are currently unable to provide access to NHS Chiropody services.

Most of our clinicians can discuss contraception with you. There are several options available, and we aim to find the safest and most effective type for you.

We can prescribe pills and can arrange appointments for contraceptive injections, implants and coils.

If you feel you would like to talk to a counsellor you can be referred after a discussion with the doctor.

Patients with diabetes are invited regularly for a review and assessment of their condition. We would like to see you yearly to ensure that there are no problems.

The Practice offers emergency contraception, which can be taken up to 72 hours after having unprotected sexual intercourse.

If there are no routine appointments, please ensure Reception staff know that you require this service and they will arrange for you to be called promptly.

Influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, for residents of nursing and rest homes and everyone over the age of 65. Notices will be displayed in the waiting area from the end of September. Please call the surgery after 2.30pm to book into one of our clinics.

Home visits can be arranged for housebound patients.

We provide help and advice for people who want to give up smoking or lose weight. We will advise you about alcohol intake, healthy eating and the importance of exercise.

The doctors can carry out home visits for patients who are housebound and who are more vulnerable.

We ask you to call before 11.30 am to arrange this so that we can assess the need for a visit the same day. However, this is at the doctor’s discretion and they will assess your situation over the telephone and advise you appropriately.

You are housebound if you are unable to leave your home. This means that your annual review tests will take place at home, usually by the community nursing team, sometime around your birthday month.

The practice pharmacist will then contact you to review your medication with you and reauthorise it as appropriate.

Your GP may then contact you to review your current health issues and plan for the next year.

We offer mental health assessment, therapy and support through the IAPT service, for first line options. 

We are delighted to be able to now offer a variety of additional mental health services through our Emotional Wellbeing team and our Primary Care Mental Health team.

Available for the removal of moles, cysts and various other procedures after an assessment by the GP.

We invite new patients to have a health check. This gives us useful information about your health as it may be several weeks before your medical records to arrive.

We do not routinely invite patients who are over 75 years of age, but if you would like to come and see a GP or a nurse to discuss any concerns then please make an appointment.

There is a physiotherapist in attendance at a weekly clinic at Pitsmoor. Appointments are arranged by the doctor.

Link workers give people time, focusing on ‘what matters to me’ and taking a holistic approach to people’s health and wellbeing. They connect people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support.

Link workers also support existing community groups to be accessible and sustainable and help people to start new groups, working collaboratively with all local partners.
